women's clothingWestchester is home to many great retail meccas – from The Westchester mall (I remember my first visit when they opened in 1995) to Ridge Hill. However, when you’re a busy mom short on time, nothing compares to stopping in at your favorite boutique for personalized service. Here’s a roundup of some of Westchester’s best small, local stores (large chains not included) for women’s clothing.

Beginnings Bleus

With retail locations in Scarsdale and Armonk, Beginnings Bleus offers premium denim, casual and upscale clothing, shoes, and accessories. Beginnings carries a wide range of brands, including Amanda Uprichard, 525 America, Generation Love, MOTHER, DL1961, and J Brand.

Fado

A couple of blocks from the main drag in Katonah, Fado is an intimate boutique offering a mix of everyday items, such as tees and denim, as well as unique dresses and blouses. You’ll uncover familiar brands like Sanctuary and Free People, as well as some lesser-known labels. I picked up two pairs of Unpublished jeans and staples from James Perse and Z Supply during a recent visit.

Great Stuff

Great Stuff has been offering contemporary women’s fashion to shoppers across Westchester and Fairfield County since 1980. With stores in Scarsdale, Rye, Chappaqua, Greenwich, and Westport, Great Stuff sells apparel and accessories from dozens of designers, including Enza Costa, Ulla Johnson, and AGOLDE.

Havana Jeans

Since opening its doors in 1995, Havana Jeans has provided the largest selection of women’s jeans in Westchester County. A favorite of mine since high school, they now have stores in Scarsdale, Rye, and Stamford. Their jeans collection includes several brands in the under $100 category, such as Hidden and Just Black.

I Am More Scarsdale

With a mission to empower women to feel confident, I Am More Scarsdale operates as a philanthropic business. The owners forgo a salary to donate profits to the local and women’s organizations. At I Am More, you’ll find looks for day and night from the likes of Love Shack Fancy, Young, Fabulous & Broke, Monrow, and Naadam.

Jolie Jordan

A boutique for the fashion-obsessed, Jolie Jordan caters to customers looking to take risks and create unique looks with luxury and hot brands, such as Good American, Pistola, Cami NYC, and White & Warren. At this Mount Kisco store, they also provide customization services such as personal made-to-order pieces.

KAHLO

Nestled in Pound Ridge, KAHLO sells items that are “kind to people and the planet.” The brands they carry are ethically made in the U.S. and globally and sustainably sourced. Expect a sensory experience in this store that curates a mix of handmade clothing, jewelry and home goods, and an apothecary of natural remedies.

LOLA New York

Located in White Plains and Tuckahoe, LOLA New York is a go-to for day and night looks. Various affordable and high-end brands are sold here, including Heartloom, Gentle Fawn, Sundays, Oliphant, and Unpublished.

Mixology

Mixology can be found in Scarsdale and Rye Brook, as well as across the tri-state area. From loungewear to denim to blouses and dresses, it’s easy to put together an outfit (or many) when shopping at Mixology. With the help of Scarsdale store manager Jill, I recently walked out with a Robertson & Rodeo knit tank and a Sunday Stevens pullover.

New York Dolls

This Mount Kisco gem has various casual daytime looks and bold prints, and special occasion dresses. You’ll find many familiar brands like Nicole Miller as well as distinct labels. A couple of years ago, I scored a beautiful strapless gold Shoshanna dress on sale.

Palmer & Purchase

Originally an accessories store, Palmer & Purchase now offers handbags, gifts, jewelry, and ready-to-wear labels in its Larchmont, Rye, and Westhampton Beach stores. Palmer & Purchase sells numerous brands like Spiritual Gangster, Cleobella, Sundry, Rails, and Citizens of Humanity, plus their very own cashmere line.

Rhoda

Located in the heart of Pleasantville, Rhoda is the go-to spot for women’s fashions under $100. For the young and young-at-heart, Rhoda offers trending staples, statements, and indulgent pieces curated to make or complete an outfit on a budget. Brands sold at Rhoda include BB Dakota and POL.

Royal New York

With stores in Chappaqua and Armonk, Royal New York sells “luxe cashmere, buttery leather, soft sweats, and denim staples for day and chic night-out wear.” Royal offers recognizable brands like Free City, The Perfect Tee, and Pistola and their own private label.

Shoes ‘N’ More

As the name implies, Shoes ‘N’ More specializes in more than just shoes. They showcase the “head-to-toe women’s fashion experience” across eight locations, including three in Westchester in Mount Kisco, Bronxville, and Rye. When I stopped in recently for sandals, I couldn’t resist a pair of distressed white jeans from Just Black and octagonal Ray-Ban sunglasses.

Stephanie’s Closet

This Larchmont store features trendy clothes for children, juniors, and women. Here you’ll find loungewear, graphic tees, denim, and more from brands like Juicy, Spiritual Gangster, and Chaser.

Tru Grace

Visit this high-end Armonk boutique for designer clothing, accessories, and funky jewelry from brands like Veronica Beard, MOUSSY, MOTHER, IRO Paris, and Isabel Marant.
