It’s December and we are here to give you a peek at some happenings going on around Westchester for the cold winter weather. Please feel free to let us know about any others that may not be listed.

Pop Up Ice Skating Rink

Now through January 10, 2019. Tuesday – Friday 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday – Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The rink is closed Christmas Day and Mondays, except December 24 – open 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

Cross County Shopping Center, 8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers, NY

The skating rink is located next to Santa, by Victoria Secret and the Gap. The rink is not made of ice. It is a synthetic floor, which is perfect for first time and young skaters.

Story Drama Side by Side

December 4 and December 11, 12:30 p.m. – 1:15 p.m.

The Westchester, 125 Westchester Avenue, White Plains, NY

Story time comes to life! Caregivers and children work together to create new adventures to existing stories using drama, acting and early literacy skills. Ages 3-5 years.

New Rochelle Holiday Lighting Ceremony

December 6, 5:30 p.m.

Memorial Plaza (the corner of Main Street and Memorial Highway) New Rochelle, NY

Join the local community in the annual lighting of the holiday tree. Holiday songs will be sung by Songcatchers; a youth chorale. The ceremony will include a Kwanzaa celebration, a soloist singing Hanukkah music, the lighting of a Menorah, a Christmas Blessing, and the finale of the tree lighting by the Mayor of New Rochelle.

Toys for Tots at the Cottage

December 8 & 9, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Thomas Paine Cottage – 20 Sicard Avenue, New Rochelle, NY 

Come and enjoy the holiday festivities at the Thomas Paine Cottage. Donate a toy to help out the community. 

Breakfast with Santa

December 8, 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

The Westchester – 125 Westchester Avenue, White Plains, NY 

Come and have Breakfast with Santa! There will be other fun activities, music and much more! Reservations are required. Please call The Westchester Guest Services at 914-421-1333 to RSVP.

Holiday Toy and Train Show

December 9, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Westchester County Center – 198 Central Avenue, White Plains, NY 

THE largest toy and train show in the northeast! There are new and antique toys and trains and more!

Lifestyle Westchester Toy Drive

December 9, 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Westchester – 125 Westchester Ave, White Plains, NY 

With a donation of an unwrapped toy, come and participate in kid friendly activities. Location is on Level 4.

Grand Holiday Illumination

December 13 – January 1, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Untermeyer Gardens Conservancy – 945 North Broadway, Yonkers, NY 

Come and view the gorgeous Walled Garden decorated with fantastic illumination and seasonal music from Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Zoroastrian traditions will be played. 

Beauty and the Beast

December 21 – January 13

White Plains Performing Arts Center – 11 City Place, White Plains, NY

Come and see Beauty and the Beast in Westchester! Details on showtimes and prices are on the website.

Ring in the New Year at Noon at New Roc City

December 31, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

33 LeCount Place, New Rochelle, NY 

Come ring in 2019 at Noon at New Roc City! Many events for kids of all ages such as crafts, activities, a DJ clowns, face painting, and more! Admission for the event is a $10 donation for the New Rochelle Library Foundation for a family of four. Pre-registration is required and you can register online, submit the donation, and download the family pass.
