Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast

Eating ice cream for breakfast. While researching some fun holidays that pop up in February, I came across a day that takes place on the first Saturday of the month. It’s called Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast Day. Now, taking the day literally means we should all get up and eat ice cream for breakfast. It doesn’t sound too bad to me, right? And I’m pretty sure your kids won’t turn their noses at finding a bowl of ice cream where their cereal should be.

But if we want to dive a bit deeper into the meaning of the day, I’m taking it to be more of a “Yes Day” or a “Do What You Like Day” and a way to let go a bit, have fun, and not worry so much about the everyday grind.

I don’t have to tell you that life can often get crazy and stressful. We all got the memo on that one. But what if we all wake up on February 4 with a renewed feeling of fun and whimsy? When the kids ask what’s for breakfast, you can shout, “Ice cream!” Or if you’re one of those planner types (I am too, by the way), maybe you can set up a whole “make your own” sundae bar the night before as a fun morning surprise.

But again, the ice cream is just a kickoff to the whole day. At breakfast, everyone in the family can come up with some fun ideas they’d like to try out that day. It can be an activity, meal, outing, or whatever.

The point is to get a bit out of your comfort zone and do things you might not normally say yes to on a typical day.

Enjoy yourself and the time spent with your family. It’s all about having fun and making memories. And who knows, maybe this will become an annual tradition for your family. And to think, it all started with a scoop or two of ice cream at 8 a.m.
