Maya, a young Salvadoran-American woman, navigates a treacherous terrain of adolescence, personal trauma, and uncovering buried family mythology through magic and folklore as she comes of age in Phoenix, Arizona. Her story explores mother-daughter relationships, mixed-race identity, and fantasy as a coping mechanism while featuring our dynamic cast’s movement and dance talents. This experimental piece incorporates traditional Spanish folk songs and dancing with live singing performances.
