A Forever Friend

Best friends embracing.My gal.
My bestie.
My BFF.
My other sister.
My go-to person for EV.ER.Y.THING!
My forever friend.

We laugh at each other and know it’s filled with love.

We can see our differences in life and how we go about navigating our days.

We may not parent the same in certain situations, but that’s okay. We respect each other’s decisions.

We may disagree on a certain way of handling something, but we can take a step back and learn something.

But friends, what is the same is how we love life.

We adore our family with a full heart.

We love our friends with a strong passion.

We cherish every moment we are together, whether it’s a walk around the block or a weekend away.

We find joy in the simplest of pleasures and delight in the magic of the mundane.

We relish in the traditions we have created for our children to celebrate together.

We cherish each other’s joy and cry with each other’s heartbreaks and hardships.

We don’t need fancy.

We don’t need attention.

We don’t need much really.

But what our two souls do need is love.

Love based on trust and honesty.

Love rooted in loyalty and truth.

Love filled with laughter and lots of it.

I am blessed.

Blessed to have my friend fill up my life and the lives of my children.

Blessed to know she is my number one supporter and encourager.

Blessed to know she gets me when many other people don’t.

Blessed to know we are different yet the same.

And blessed to be loved by her.

So friends, take a moment to reach out today to call your old friend, your current bestie, your best gal pal, and offer a word of love and thanks.

Thanks for making the days better.

Thanks for making the dark nights brighter.

And thanks for loving unconditionally, flaws and all.

Thank you, my forever friend, for loving me for me.

In her free time, Ali enjoys going on long runs, browsing independent bookstores, catching up with friends. She is in a constant state of doing laundry, cooking, policing arguments, driving to and from activities, and trying her best to be the kind of mom her girls will admire, even on her worst days.
