Motherhood, to me, is like trying to nail jello to a tree. It can be a real pain in the neck. It’s physically exhausting and emotionally draining, but somehow we work through it and keep trying our best because the rewards are the sweetest.
My name is Jacqueline Reisner, and I recently moved out of Manhattan and settled in West Harrison with my husband Jeff, two-year-old daughter Brooke, and our dog named Teddy. I started my own physical therapy practice in Mt. Kisco. When I’m not working or chasing my daughter around, I love to work out or watch something educational like The Real Housewives.
I left New York City kicking and screaming. I loved the buzz, the energy, and just being able to walk everywhere. Once I finally got settled in Westchester, I realized I absolutely loved it. It felt isolating in the beginning, but having space and peace and quiet is fantastic!
As a new mom, I am finding motherhood to be one of the most challenging but rewarding jobs I’ve ever had. People can prepare you and give you advice, but when you live it, it’s a whole different world. I always hated it when my friends with kids were late to something. I would say I’m never going to be one of those moms – low and behold I’m always late with a last-minute outfit update, diaper change, or something that I’ve forgotten.
As a physical therapist and mother, I have a different appreciation for my job and for all moms out there. Having children changes your body in so many ways, and pain gets put on the back burner. Our everyday motions of lifting and bending put a lot of stress on our bodies that we usually don’t have time to take care of.
I’m looking forward to being able to help moms with better ways to move and little tricks to help with our everyday aches and pains that come along with motherhood.
