Are you ever looking for something to pack into your already busy fall schedule? If you are, here is a listing of family friendly events that we have compiled for October. Please feel free to let us know about any others that may not been shown on the list.

The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze (AKA The Blaze) – September 28 through November 24

Van Cortland Manor, Croton-on-Hudson, NY 

Take a walk around the historic park to see all of the intricately decorated pumpkins. This event is family friendly and completely outdoors. Tickets are still available. Visit http://www.hudsonvalley.org/events/blaze for ticket purchase and other details.

Pumpkin Picking Weekend at Muscoot Farms – October 6-8; 11:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.

51 Route 100, Katonah, NY 

Come to the farm and decorate pumpkins, go on hayrides, and experience the Farmer’s Market. Visit www.muscootfarm.org for more details.

Ferry Fiesta – Dobbs Ferry – October 6; 1:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Cedar and Main Streets, Dobbs Ferry, NY 

Come to Dobbs annual street fair which features crafts, entertainment, music vendors and more!

Free Musical Theatre Workshop Open House  at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center – October 6; 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

Come learn firsthand about all the wonderful things happening for kids at ChappPAC this fall. Join Westchester’s finest musical theatre instructors on-stage and learn about all the opportunities for kids this fall at ChappPAC. From 11am-12pm, students ages 3-6 will learn a song from Peter Pan and perform for parents and friends on stage at the end of the workshop. From 12:30-2:30 students ages 7-11 and 12-16 will learn and perform a song and dance from Hamilton.

Playland’s Scared by the Sound – Fridays – Sundays beginning October 12 and ending October 28 

100 Playland Parkway, Rye NY.

Up for spooky Halloween antics? Come to Scared by the Sound, where kids ages 10+ have the opportunity to walk through a haunted house and get the scare of your life. Junior League of Bronxville Touch-A-Truck – October 13; 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Immaculate Conception Church, 65 Winter Hill Road Tuckahoe

This is a family friendly event where all can climb on and experience the trucks that drive around the community. Price of admission is a canned food item for the local food pantry. There will be food trucks, raffles and more.

Wicked Workshop at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center  October 15; 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Exclusive opportunity for young theater lovers to Join two current Broadway actors who are former cast members of Wicked! Arielle Jacobs whose Broadway credits include; Jasmine in Aladdin (current), WickedIn the Heights and Rent and Alicia Albright whose Broadway credits include dance captain in Frozen (current) and Dance Captain in Wicked, as well as national tours ofAll Shook Up and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Participants will learn a portion of a Wicked song and dance combo from Broadway cast members and two professional music directors. The session culminates with the students performing on stage for parents and friends and a Q&A session with the actors about their experience to educate and inspire the next generation of performers and theatre lovers.

Stew Leonards’ Fall Treats Toddler Class – October 19; 10:00 a.m.

Kiddies, ages 2-5, can make their own homemade treats. Admission $9.99 per child. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

Mt Pleasant/Hawthorne Fall Foliage Festival – October 20; 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Broadway Field, Hawthorne NY

This is a family friendly event with games, rides, face painting, pumpkin decorating, chili, apple pie contest – all to celebrate the lovely season of fall.

Eastchester/Tuckahoe Harvest Fest – October 20; 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Depot Square – 25 Main Street Tuckahoe

This free event features face painting, pumpkin decorating, games, live music, fitness boot camp, and Zumba and Yoga classes. 

Rye Town Park Fall Festival – October 20; 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

95 Dearborn Avenue

Come and experience all things fall in Rye. There will be arts and crafts, hayrides, a petting zoo, bouncy castle, donuts and cider and more. Admission is $10 per child. Children 3 years and under are free. Visit https://www.townofryeny.com/ for more details about the festival.

Harvestfest on the Hill – October 20; 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

1 Ridge Hill Boulevard, Yonkers, NY

Come to Ridge Hill for their annual Harvestfest on the Hill for trick or treating (select stores will hand out candy from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.), music by Jakes Rockin Country Band, petting zoo, pumpkin decorating/crafting, and so much more! Check out www.ridgehill.com for more information.

New Rochelle Window Painting, Arts Activities and Open Mic – October 20; 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

New Rochelle Grand Market, 1 Library Green, New Rochelle, NY

A wonderful weekend for ArtsFest 2018. Families with children from ages 8-12 can assemble to participate in window painting with participating downtown vendors. From 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., the members of the New Rochelle Art Association will paint beautiful rocks and also participate in a rock hunt. From 12:30-2 p.m., Bach to Rock Mamaroneck NY will host an Open Mic session. Cross County Spooktacular – October 20; 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers, NY

Come on out to Cross County Shopping Center to participate in the fun Halloween activities. Some activities include trick or treats, arts & crafts, DJ Dane Party, Story Time, Strolling Entertainers and so much more. This event is separated into two sessions – 1st session is at 10:00 a.m., and the second session is at 1:00 p.m. Please RSVP to one of the sessions by emailing [email protected]. This will ensure there are enough supplies for each session.

Mamaroneck Spooktacular – October 21; 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. 

Come and celebrate all things Halloween and Spooky in Mamaroneck! Window decorating kicks off the event at 10:30 a.m., and then a costume parade will commence from Mamaroneck and Halstead Avenues to march down to Harbor Island Park where there is more fun to be had! Costume Parade and Halloween Fest – October 27; 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. 

New Roc City Regal Cinema and Library Green

Begins at New Roc City Regal Cinema and ends at the Grand Market on Library Green New Rochelle, NY

Come and celebrate Halloween in downtown New Rochelle with the Marchant’s Urchin’s parade, followed by various Halloween activities such as pumpkin painting at the New Rochelle Grand Market. Get dressed in your Halloween costume best and march along! Parade line up begins at 9:45 a.m. in front of Regal Cinema at New Roc City. Parade starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at the Grand Market on Library Green, in front of the public library, where all of the Halloween activities will begin! In the event of inclement weather, the parade will be cancelled, and pumpkin painting will occur in the library meeting room.

Philipse Manor State Hall Movie Time – October 27; 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Movie Time at the Manor! Featured Saturday movie is Monsters University. Please bring a blanket and refreshments. The movie will be shown inside the Gothic Chamber of Philipse Manor Hall State Historic Site.

Fall Festival at White Plains – October 27; 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. 

White Plains City Center, 5 City Place, White Plains, NY

Free family event with lots of Halloween activities – face painting, trick or treats, music and more!

Philipse Haunted Manor House – October 31; 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

29 Warburton Avenue, Yonkers NY

A Haunted House walk through for children ages 12 and under. Trick or treats on the first floor and a haunted walk through on the second floor.
