Spring Home Refresh

spring home refreshThe flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, the curtains are blowing in the warm fresh air, and your home is prime for a little freshening up. It can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be difficult. By starting small and tackling one room at a time, you can get your home in tip-top shape so that you can enjoy those warm spring days and long summer nights. Here are a few tips to get you started.

Clear the Clutter & Organize

Decluttering can do a world of good for oneself. Having things organized, we feel relieved and re-energized. Clearer spaces make us more efficient, and who doesn’t want a more efficient home? Start by sorting your belongings into four categories: trash, give away, store, or put away. Move the clutter out as soon as possible, whether it’s bringing a donation box to a local charity or planning a yard sale.

Enlist Household Helpers

Surely the kiddos are “bored” and in need of a new task to keep them busy. Why not make spring cleaning a household project and put those extra hands around the house to good use? Assign age-appropriate chores, and have each family member declutter their own belongings and turn on some tunes to make it fun for everyone.

Seasonal Shifts

Time to store winter clothing, bedding, and décor, and finally, time to pull out your spring items to give your home a refreshed look. Add brighter colors and lighter fabrics throughout the house to spruce things up! Add a touch of green with house plants that add a touch of color and purify the air.

Deep Clean

With months of quarantining, now would be an excellent time to deep clean those items that have seen their share of wear and tear this past year. Shower curtains, rugs, slipcovers, and bedding could all use a good wash. Wall to wall carpeting and tile grout should be professionally scrubbed and cleaned. Time to tackle those cleaning projects you’ve been putting off – vacuum all the hard-to-reach places you usually skip. Don’t forget the light fixtures, blinds, and behind the fridge. Last but not least…the windows so you can enjoy the beauty of the spring from your freshly cleaned and decluttered home….ahhhh!
