Thankful for the Little Moments

A woman holding her chest and stomach in gratitude. It’s that time of year again – the HOLIDAY SEASON (yes, all caps). We all know the drill – parties, special events, gift-buying, and running around like a crazy person.

But what if we took the time to slow down, take a breath and remember what this time of year is truly about?

Last year, I wrote about being thankful and showing gratitude. Yes, this holds true now, but it shouldn’t just be at the forefront of our minds at this time of year but all year round. What are you truly grateful for? Who are the people, places, and things that make you happy each day and help give meaning to your life?

Instead of focusing our energy on the negative, let’s try our best daily to remember the positive. It can be challenging. I get it. But at the end of the day, when all is said and done, let’s look for and focus on the good.

Trust me; I am not Miss Mary Sunshine 24 hours a day. Life gets crazy and hectic. I’ve recently found myself writing each night in a gratitude journal to help reign in the negative thoughts and put more emphasis and awareness on the things that went right in my day.

It’s helped me to refocus my energy and not take all the little moments for granted and let go and live in the moment.

I recently read a profile of Joanna Gaines, who, from the outside, seems to have it all and then some. She has a beautiful family, multiple successful businesses, book deals, fame, etc. But she was hiding the fears and stress she had recently learned to deal with and let go. My point is it happens to all of us.

It’s life. It can be hard to slow down and breathe but take it from me; it can be amazing when you do. And for that, I’m very thankful.
