Wear Your Tiara Like the Queen You Are

Did you know (and if you’re like me, I’m sure you didn’t) that May 24 is also known as International Tiara Day? Now, I’m not saying go around all day with a bejeweled crown on top of your head, although maybe that could be fun!

I’m saying to take the essence of what this day means and do something nice for yourself today and act like the queen you know you are.

We hear it all the time and know it to be true; as moms, we’re constantly putting everyone else’s needs in front of our own: sports practices, games, playdates, doctor appointments, and school projects. I can go on and on.

But what if we stopped, took a breath, put ourselves in the forefront of our minds, and did something just for us.

The story goes that International Tiara Day was created in 2005 by Barbara Bellisimo so that women and girls worldwide could feel like royalty. According to Bellisimo, the day “empowers women to change their worlds and embrace their inner beauty.” May 24 is the chosen day to celebrate as it is the birthdate of Queen Victoria of England, who ruled from 1837 until 1901.

So dust off that proverbial tiara and embrace your inner royal today. Whether you decide to book a massage appointment, relax with your favorite latte, or binge a few Netflix shows while the kids are at school, it’s the perfect day to do something nice for yourself. Because queen, you deserve it!
