Italian foodOur Westchester County Mom contributors live all over this beautiful county. Each of us knows our own corners well, and as a team, we love being able to share our collective resources and knowledge of Westchester County with our readers.

A common question on social media, especially in parenting groups, is for local restaurant recommendations. As Westchester County is home to many incredible restaurants, our contributor team is excited to share our faves!

October is Italian-American Heritage Month, and for that reason, we are spotlighting our top choices for Italian food around Westchester County. From Mount Kisco to Ardsley to Pelham to Hawthorne… we’ve got you covered!

Angela’s Pick:

L’inizio (698 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley): “Fresh farm-to-table Italian. Not heavy dishes with an amazing cocktail menu. A separate bar area and intimate dining room make it great for date night!” Such incredible dishes on the menu, including delish-sounding vegetarian dishes like Butternut Squash Cutlet Parmigiana. They do a Bottomless Brunch on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for $25 with any large plate with your choice of Bloody Mary, seasonal Mimosa, or Sangria. The Family Meal Menu feeds 4-5 people and is available for curbside pickup or local delivery in Ardsley. Check out the Pasta Party choices, too, with an original spin on a traditional idea. There is a portion of their menu called L’inizio Market Menu, where a part of the sales of the items goes to members or their team that are currently unemployed. Open for dinner Wednesdays through Saturday evenings and for Sunday brunch.

Sergio’s Ristorante (503 Fifth Avenue, Pelham): “The baby artichoke appetizer is amazing. Love their pappardelle bolognese. Great wine and cocktails too!” Sergio’s menu has absolutely something for everyone. They have a diverse variety of chicken, fish, veal, beef, risotto, and of course, many pasta dishes. They serve traditional and authentic Italian food, such as Veal Marsala, Chicken Scarpariello, and Gnocchi Pomodoro. Sergio’s has a private dining room area that can accommodate up to 70 people and has a party menu with vast choices. Catering is available as well. Dining is open seven days a week in their newly redecorated space.

Christine’s Picks

Tramonto (27 Saw Mill River Road, Hawthorne): “We’ve been going to Tramonto’s for over ten years, and it’s consistently tasty with great service.” Tramonto has a great backstory.  Three sisters, originally from Italy, decided to open their restaurant to serve authentic Italian dishes in a welcoming, homey setting. Recently sold to other restauranteurs in the county, Tramonto’s traditions continue with inventive dishes such as Carrot Gnocchi, Scarpariello Chicken on the bone, and Short Ribs braised in Pomegranate Brussel Sprouts Polenta. All pasta is made in-house, with the majority available gluten-free. The dessert menu options are tough to choose from – they need a sampler plate for sure! Open for dinner daily, for lunch Monday through Friday, and Happy Hour from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Tesoro D’Italia Ristorante (160 Marble Avenue, Pleasantville): “Tesoro is very attentive to the customer, and they also have one of my favorites on their menu – Fettuccini Amatriciana, which is something I’ll usually order at a restaurant since I don’t make that dish at home.” So many choices for delicious meals on the menu! There is a nice balance between Italian Food favorites like Penne a la Vodka and Veal Parmigiana and Tesoro’s chicken and veal dishes. Tesoro lists seven party packages and has three areas for private parties ranging from around 25 people to 130 people. Great offerings and price for lunch specials from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Jessica’s Pick:

Locali Pizza Bar (2 Kirby Plaza, Mount Kisco): “Same owners as Village Social (in Mount Kisco.) I love the vegetable starters (Crispy Baby Artichokes, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Shaved Cauliflower), Grilled Pesto Salmon, and Impossible Bolognese. If you love spicy, the Snake Oil Pizza is a must.” Locali is nestled right at the Mount Kisco train station, giving it a really neat atmosphere. Besides tables and booths, there is ample seating at the bar. Speaking of the bar, the wine by the bottle choices are mainly from Italy, which is a treat. In addition to the Snake Oil Pizza, the other options for pizza are pretty unique as well – take a look at the 3 a.m., the Pretty Kale Leopard, and the Rocket Pie. Gluten-free items are on the menu, and gluten-free crust is available for pizzas too. Closed Mondays, but open Tuesdays through Sunday for lunch and dinner.

Melissa’s Pick:

Stone Fire (251 Lexington Avenue, Mount Kisco): “My family’s fave. The website describes the cuisine as ‘old world Italian-fare and more with a twist.’ I am a huge fan of the Szechwan Cauliflower appetizer, the Neapolitan Pizzas (all of them!), the Chopped Salad, and good ol’ classic Chicken Parm. I’ve got my eye on the Deconstructed Lasagna (ground veal, beef, and pork sausage, ricotta, mozzarella, tomato sauce) for next time! Stone Fire has an a-la-carte brunch on the weekends too, which is worth checking out. All delish! We have never been disappointed in anything we’ve ordered!” Another great offer is the Family Feast specials to-go that serves 4 to 6 people and includes a main dish, pasta, salad, bread, and a bottle of wine – all for $55.

Buon appetito!
