Happy Almost Summer! As we welcome the warm weather and sunshine (some days, anyway, ha!), we have put together a list of some events that are going on around Westchester during the month of June.

Kids Workshop Home Depot

Is your child interested in building? Bring them in to Home Depot so that they can work on a building project that they can take home!

Summer Splash Festival

One River Hartsdale, 112 S. Central Avenue, Hartsdale

June 7; 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Stew Leonards Glow in the Dark Dance Party

Stew Leonards, 1 Stew Leonard Drive, Yonkers

June 7; 6:00 p.m.

Stew Leonards is having a glow dance party! Come and dance the night away with special guest WOW the Cow. Enjoy yummy food such as pepperoni pizza, fresh fruit, veggies and dip, chicken fries, milk/juice and cupcakes. See website for details and for free registration.

Strawberry Picking (outside of Westchester County)

Fishkill Farms, 9 Fishkill Farm Road, Hopewell Junction, NY

June 8 & 9; and continues through the month

Open Monday thru Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Admission is $5 for adults and children 12+. Fruit/vegetables are priced separately from the admission cost and will vary. I couldn’t resist – I love the outdoors, and always wanted to go strawberry picking. I have never gone, and I thought maybe you all might want to go experience this with your families. This is farther north, and outside of Westchester County, but I still wanted to highlight a wonderful family activity, as I love to go apple picking with my family in the fall. Rhyme and Read

Westchester Children’s Museum, 100 Playland Parkway, Rye

June 8 & June 15; 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Children age 2 – 5 years will participate in reading sessions through song and will gain critical reading skills! Please see website for additional information.

Ossining Village Fair

165 Main Street, Ossining

June 8 (rain date June 9); 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Ossining’s 39th Annual Fair is here! Come celebrate the warm weather with local vendors, children’s rides, entertainment and great food! See the website for more details.

Teaching Trails: Weekend Walks for All Ages

Greenburgh Nature Center, 99 Dromore Road, Scarsdale

June 8; 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

Join a guided trail walking experience with specially trained volunteers who will provide information on all wildlife and plants in the local vicinity. Admission is free. See the website for more details.

Kids Craft at Michaels – Pelham Manor

June 8; 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Bring your child and let them explore their creativity during this class at Michaels. All materials and supplies will be provided. $3 per child, age 3 years old and up. See website for class sign up and further details.

Colonial Fair 2019

Thomas Paine Cottage Museum, 20 Sicard Avenue, New Rochelle 

June 8; 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Come and rediscover the Thomas Paine Cottage! There will be games, music, lectures, and more! On this day ONLY, you will be able to see Thomas Paine’s original gravestone on display. Admission is $7.50; food and colonial tavern is a separate fee. See website for additional details.

Raptors of Westchester

June 9; 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Meet birds of prey and learn from a specialist why these creatures are called the hunters of the sky. Admission is $5 for members; $8 for non-members. Please see the website for additional detail.

Circus Fun Day at White Plains Plaza

June 11 (Rain date June 12, 2019); 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Open Art Studio for Kids

Neuberger Museum of Art, 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase

June 13; 3:30 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Kids will come in and create masks inspired by masks that are on display in the museum. A project is presented to the children to complete, and an afternoon snack is also provided. Free for members; $15 per child for non-members. Please see website for additional details.

Rye Recreation Food Truck Festival

Summer Picnic Basket for Our Dolls
