Westchester fun runs and charity races

September 24

K104’s Pooch-A-Palooza Pet Walk & Vendor Fair, pet walks at 11:30am and 2:30pm, vendor fair from 11am-4pm, Thomas Bull Memorial Park, Montgomery, NY

What to Expect:  a 2k pet walk, vendors, raffles, demonstrations, entertainment, and more. The fundraiser benefits the Hudson Valley SPCA.

 

September 25

2nd Annual Dylan J. Hoffman Walk and Touch a Truck , 11am, Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital Grounds, Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY

What to Expect: a walk and touch a truck event to benefit the Ronald McDonald House, in memory of Dylan J. Hoffman.

 

Eastchester 5K, 9am, 40 Mill Road, Eastchester, NY

What to Expect: a 5k for runners and walkers of all levels. Prizes awarded at the conclusion of the race.

 

NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, 9am, IKEA parking lot 9, 1 Beard Street, Brooklyn, NY

What to Expect: retrace the footsteps of 9/11 hero, firefighter Stephen Siller, from the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the World Trade Center. After the event, there will be additional fundraising opportunities, a BBQ, and a concert.

 

Together We Walk 5K in Chappaqua, 1pm, Bell Middle School, Chappaqua, NY

What to Expect: a 5k through downtown Chappaqua to increase epilepsy awareness and raise funds for the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. There will be music, food, drinks, and  kid-friendly activities (face painting and temporary tattoos) at the finish-line festival.

 

October 1

Mutts on the Mountain 5K/ Lazy Dog 1 Mile Fun Run, 8am-12pm, Blue Mountain Reservation, Peekskill, NY, 10566

What to Expect: the only timed trail race in the tri-state area that allows competitors to run with their dogs. People that would like to participate without their dogs can.

 

October 2

Annual Support a Walk for  Breast and Ovarian Cancer, 9am-12pm, FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights, NY

What to Expect: a 3 mile walk and fundraiser to raise money for breast and ovarian cancer support services.

 

The Color Run Hudson Valley, 10am, Dutchess County Fairgrounds, Rhinebeck, NY

What to Expect: the most colorful 5k around and a post race festival.

 

Westchester Medical Center’s Healing Half & 10K8am, Westchester County Center Parking Lot,  White Plains, NY

What to Expect: a 10k and half marathon along the Bronx River Parkway (walkers welcome) to benefit the Westchester Medical Center.

 

October 8

5K Run for Babies & Kids Superhero Sprint, 10:15am (5K run) and 11:30(Superhero Sprint), Stewart International Airport, New Windsor, NY

What to Expect: a 5k run or walk, followed by a Superhero Sprint for the kids (where they can dress up as their favorite superhero). After, there will be food, music, and viewing airplanes, helicopters, and other machines. Proceeds go to March of Dimes.

 

October 9

Race for Rehab 5K, 9am, New York Medical College, Valhalla Campus, Valhalla, NY

What to Expect: a 5k to raise money and awareness for Achilles International. Race followed by awards presentation.

 

October 15

2016 FARE Walk for Food Allergy, 1pm, Glen Island Park, New Rochelle, NY

What to Expect: a walk, a food allergy awareness concert, food and samples. No pets allowed.

 

Chilly Hilly 5K Run/Walk 2016, 10am, Palisade Avenue Municipal Parking Lot, Yonkers, NY

What to Expect: a 5k run or walk, with all proceeds going to the NY Fire Fighters Burn Center Foundation and Arthur C. Luff Burn Camp for Kids.

 

Westchester Out of the Darkness Community Walk, 11am-1:30pm, Harbor Island Park, 123 Mamaroneck Avenue, Mamaroneck, NY

What to Expect: Check in begins at 10am. The walk raises money and awareness for suicide prevention.

 

October 16

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Westchester at Manhattanville College, 9:30am, 2900 Purchase Street, Purchase, NY

What to Expect: a survivor tent, entertainment, and merchandise tent. Proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

 

October 22

Westchester Walk Like MADD 2016, 9am-1pm, FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights, NY

What to Expect: a 5k walk to end drunk driving.

 

Yonkers Marathon, 1/2 Marathon, 5K, 5K Mud Run, Super Hero 5K, 9am (October 22- Superhero 5K, Mud Run, and Family Superhero 2k) and 8am  (October 23- marathon, half marathon, and 5k), 1 Larkin Plaza, Yonkers, NY (marathon, half marathon, 5k) and Trevor Park, Yonkers, NY (Superhero 5k, 5K Mud run and obstacles,  and Family Superhero 2k)

What to Expect: On Saturday, there will be a costumed Superhero 5K, a costumed family Superhero 2k, a mud run and obstacle course, and a post race party. On Sunday, spectators can cheer along the marathoners as they try to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

Town of Cortlandt 4th Annual 5K Road Race, 9:30am, Riverview Avenue & Broadway, Verplanck, NY

What to Expect: a 5k road race with awards for top performers in each category.

 

October 30

Make A Wish Hudson Valley Annual 5K Run/Walk, 10am, FDR State Park, Yorktown Heights, NY

What to Expect: a 5k fun run/walk that joins supporters, local businesses, organizations, community leaders, and schools together to help raise funds to grant wishes for Make A Wish kids.
