Our Westchester County Mom contributors live all over this beautiful county. Each of us knows our own corners well, and as a team, we love being able to share our collective resources and knowledge of Westchester County with our readers.
A common question on social media, especially in parenting groups, is for local restaurant recommendations. As Westchester County is home to many incredible restaurants, our contributor team is excited to share our faves!
This month we spotlight our top choices for Asian cuisine eats in Westchester County. From Bronxville to Chappaqua to Ardsley to Port Chester …..we’ve got you covered!
Ku Asian Bistro (480 New Rochelle Rd, Bronxville): “Great sushi, Basil Delight is one of my faves.” Basil Delight is a dish with chicken, beef, shrimp, shiitake mushroom, bell peppers, and onion. Ku Asian has quite an ample menu – a wide choice of salads, noodles, rice, soups, appetizers, traditional Chinese entrees, traditional Japanese entrees, and sushi. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
Waka Asian Bistro (95 King Street, Chappaqua): “Amazing sushi and fried rice. My husband also loves their lo-mein. Their regular sushi/sashimi is always fantastic, and they also have great specialty rolls. We also love their gyoza.” Waka is known for its upscale Asian cuisine and offers high-quality authenticity, yet it is simple and fresh. Lunch specials daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., except holidays. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
On’s Chinese Kitchen (475 Bedford Road, Pleasantville): “Great Chinese if you are looking for classic Americanized Chinese food. And it isn’t just our family who loves this little hole-in-the-wall gem. They are a frequent top recommended on our local groups, too!” On’s is a traditional takeout and delivery Chinese restaurant, yet the menu is pretty extensive. For example, there are 20 lunch specials choices, which are served daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Additionally, the diet menu has twenty dishes listed.
Edo’s Japanese Steakhouse (140 Midland Avenue, Port Chester): “I love Edo’s in Port Chester! The whole hibachi experience is the best part. Taking the kids there for the first time and seeing their reactions to watching their food be prepared is priceless! My favorite is the seafood combination hibachi, and I adore the green tea ice cream!” Hibachi is a fun family experience for so many reasons! Edo’s also has another location in Pelham at 4787 Boston Post Road. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
Golden Wok Cafe (875 Saw Mill River Road, Ardsley): “My default favorite Chinese food is Golden Wok in Ardsley. I drive there from Northern Westchester to pick up dinner because it is the ONLY gluten-free Chinese food I can find. It makes me (and my kids, who also have celiac) very happy! They have a full GF menu and pack the GF items in a different color container.” While Golden Wok doesn’t only cater to gluten-free, they have a dedicated kitchen space and separate fryer, and the gluten-free menu has over 50 choices, including dessert! Vegan and allergy-friendly. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
Mister Chen (265 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck): “What a delight! Everything is fresh and authentic, and you can even watch them making mouth-watering soup dumplings right in front of you.” The owners spent many years living in Asia, and upon return home, they decided to bring their favorites from the far east with them. They cook authentic Chinese cuisine, including food from many cities in Asia, including Taipei and Shanghai. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
Red Plum (251 Mamaroneck Ave, Mamaroneck): “A great option if you are going with a group for a celebration or just a fun night out. We went a few years back for the first time with another family – the meal and the hibachi experience were really top-notch, and we went right back a few weeks later with some relatives.” Traditional hibachi offers options not always seen on similar menus, such as Chilean sea bass and Angus steak. Full sushi menu, traditional Chinese and Japanese meals, noodles, rice, and “Big Bowl Noodles Soup.” Lunch specials 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every day, except Sundays and holidays, with plenty of options. Outside dining is available. Red Plum also has party facilities that can hold up to 100 guests. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery are available.
Thai Angel’s (155 Lexington Avenue, Mount Kisco): “I have not eaten here yet but highly recommended. I’ve been living here for ten years – I’m not sure what I’m waiting for! Friends rave not only about their food but their customer service, atmosphere, and friendly owners. They say it’s the best Thai food around – recommending the Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, and the Massaman Curry. The restaurant has a small children’s menu and offers lunch specials Monday through Friday between 11 am and 3 pm. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery.
And a couple of places with two picks!
Haiku Asian Bistro & Sushi Bar (149 Mamaroneck Avenue, White Plains): This restaurant has something for any Asian food desire – sushi, Asian fusion, Asian noodles, traditional Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese, including many vegetarian options.
Lelia says: “Love their shumai, spicy shrimp, and Boston rolls!
Lauren says: So good!
Exit 4 Food Hall (153 East Main Street, Mount Kisco): Exit 4 offers at least nine different food stations – there really is something for everyone! Their Asian station has poke bowls, traditional sushi, specialty rolls, noodles, soup, and rice.
Erin says: “Exit 4 has sushi burritos and poke bowls. Super Americanized, but I know they were a thing for a while when I was living in the city (and are super tasty).”
Melissa says: My favorite is the Pink Lady Roll, which has spicy salmon, avocado, topped with salmon sashimi. It’s pretty perfect. Another favorite is the X-Pho Noodle Bowl. You choose your protein (a choice of 10!), broth flavor; a noodle or rice; and your choice of up to 6 veggies. And spice it up if you prefer! My daughter would eat this every day if she could.
